In the past, before the days of Internet, the 55 Squadron Association Hon. Sec. used to keep the association members in touch by post. The Spearpoint was a Roneo printed news sheet originally, slowly gathered more sides and finally acquired colour as a professionally printed booklet.
Initially printing administrative news, the Spearpoint later printed war and other stories submitted by members - some of which are priceless. As 223 Squadron didn't have an association and as the two squadrons had been through thick and thin together, its ex-members were often included in - and sent - the Spearpoint. As of Feb 1967 (Spearpoint number 69) the association officially included 223 Squadron ex-members.
The available Spearpoints in booklet form, from 1983 to 2005 -are here below. If you have any older copies, please send me a good quality scan for the site. Thanks. I'll start the ball with my own rather ragged personal Spearpoint news-sheet from 1972. Fair copy follows. Generally the cover and the back page are scanned together. So sometimes you may find the conclusion of an inside story further up... Copies after 2005 will appear under a separate page heading.
